On this new series coupe, Pinin Farina coachwork replaced the Boano- and Ellena-built cars of years previous. Most importantly, the 250 GT delivered exactly what the market desired and cemented Ferrari’s managerial fortitude to continue volume production: With 353 produced between 1958 and 1960, the 250 GT was the marque’s best-selling product.
The Ferrari 250 GT (Gran Turismo) chassis was built with the lessons learned from a highly successful racing resume. Hoping to produce more cars for the refined touring enthusiast, Ferrari created a second generation of 250 GT coupes, built from 1956 to 1958. Pinin Farina designs graced just ten of these chassis.

1964 Ferrari 250 GTO ’64. The first GTO was completed in 1962, having a body sculpted in-house and later revised by Scaglietti. In 1963 steps were made to improve the car, which included an all-new, Pininfarina-designed body. Sometimes referred to as the Series II or ’64 GTO, only three examples originally received the new body.
