I currently own a cee'd SW 1.6 CRDI with classic Torque Converter Automatic gearbox. In about a year from now I plan to replace it with a new cee'd SW equipped with DCT 7 gear transmission.
Not familiar with the Ceed, but with other models there is no dipstick for Auto fluid.Advise take it into dealer for checking. If a fluid level problem and needs replacing if gone brown, reverse gear is usually the first one to fail. Also if the torque converter is faulty again reverse is usually the first to suffer.
Clutch-by-wire bridges the gap, allowing a manual gearbox to gain an added economy feature, namely coasting with the engine shut down. So far, this has only been possible with autos. Clutches areAn automatic also has a set number of gears, but it uses a hydraulic system that responds to pressure created by the conditions to determine the gear needed without any input from the driver.

Transmission output shaft leak after seal replacement. I have replaced the output shaft seal twice thinking maybe a faulty seal also used two different seal Manufactures it almost seams like its an over pressure problem with the transmission. i drove it around at 35 mph for 5 or so miles before dropping it off to the owner and there was no leak.
