During the weeks prior, many subreddits and moderators were threatened and removed, with many big subreddits still completely unusable due to complete removal of mods and some still running a form of protest.
Unfortunatelythis only works from the regular face. If you tap either button when the AOD is showing, the watch first returns you to the regular face. Note: the AOD will cut your battery life in half: from 10 days down to 5. I don't find it a problem though.

S6is my first Apple Watch and I can’t do it without always on. It’s just so convenient checking the time. No burning. Battery is good for a day. Isthere a short cut or something to to turn on/off the always on display, rather than going all the way in settings? it’s probably not what you are lookin for, but maybe it helps a few people. I use my watch in low power mode most of the time, that disables AOD. When I turn low power mode off, AOD is enabled again.
Batterylife on the 8 is apparently about the same as the 7. Without AOD and all the tracking turned on I get about 48 hours on my 45mm 7 without workouts or less with workouts depending on how long the workouts last. It's pretty good without AOD. I turned it off and went to work on the first day without it.
TheAOD was added to bring the Apple Watch to parity with regular mechanical and digital watches. With those, you just have to glance down at your wrist to see the time. However, Apple Watches prior to the Series 5 required that you use a more deliberate “flicking” motion in order to wake the screen.
Yep 36 hours has always been a “constant”. I have just updated to watch 09 and was surprised to see that after 36 hours I still had 25% battery left. I was much surprised!! Nobody can say how long YOUR battery will last because every person has a different use. Find your own level.
TheAOD was the only reason I bought the S6 instead of the SE. The SE would‘ve been all I need but the missing AOD was a no go for me. I usually wear mechanical watches and cannot stand having a blank black display at my wrist.

Theissue with doing it on watches is that it will almost certainly burn in. I used to have an android wear watch with an always on display and I turned the feature on for about an hour. Two pixels died that day. On the phone it would be fine though, there’s more than enough space to move the AOD around the screen to prevent burn in.

Dependswhat your budget is really. The SE gives you 90% of the capability of the 8, it’s just the bigger screen and always on display that might make it more tempting. The SE is definitely better value, but the 8 is just that little bit nicer. It’s
